For over a decade, Susan has been the proud owner of Every Body Balance studio, but her journey to wellness leadership spans much further.
Before dedicating herself to the studio, Susan spent more than 36 years leading an NIH-funded research lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge. Her groundbreaking studies on oxytocin, the microbiome and holistic health have been featured in Scientific American, The New York Times, and her inspiring 2017 TED Talk.
Susan’s scientific journey began in the 1980s, when she pursued postdoctoral training at MIT and the Harvard School of Public Health. Along the way, she has mentored countless students, including those who gifted her a T-shirt that reads, “Life isn’t all YOGA and DOGS, but it should be”—a sentiment that perfectly captures Susan’s passions.
Susan has applied her many years of experience with scientific study and teaching to provide the best possible atmosphere for your personal growth at Every Body Balance. After retiring from her distinguished academic career, Susan now devotes her energy to blending her scientific expertise with her love of fitness. Members rave about her leadership and teaching style:
Susan’s fitness philosophy is rooted in science, emphasizing the connection between physical, mental, and social health. An avid runner and swimmer for decades, she discovered yoga and Pilates in the 1990s, and her enthusiasm for these practices continues to inspire others.
