4 Best Yoga Poses For Beginners
Even if you’re new to practicing yoga, you can start experiencing the benefits right away! Reaching those more advanced poses takes time and practice, but there are several poses that are perfect for beginners. Here are four of the best poses for yoga beginners from Every Body Balance in Southborough, MA!
Relieve Stress With Sukhasana
This pose is so simple that it’s also commonly referred to as “The Easy Pose.” Simply sit cross-legged on your yoga mat and place your hands on your knees, with palms facing upward. Try to keep your spine as straight as possible, while pushing the bones you’re sitting on into the floor. Close your eyes and concentrate on your breathing. That’s it!
Ease Back Pain With Cat-Cow
People who experience frequent back pain love the benefits of Cat-Cow, as it opens up the spine and helps relieve pain. Start by getting on all fours on your mat. Making sure your hands are square with your shoulders and your knees are square with your hips, inhale and round your back up like a cat, with chin to chest. As you exhale, lower your back as far as you can, lifting your head and tilting back. Repeat as necessary!
Tree Pose For Balance
Tree Pose, or Vrksasana, begins by standing straight up. Bringing your hands together in front o you in the prayer pose, lift them high over your head. Here’s where balance comes in — balancing on your right leg, bend your left knee out and to the left, bringing your left foot to your right leg’s inner thigh. Try to hold this pose for about 30 seconds, then switch legs.
Boost Flexibility With Downward-Facing Dog
Decompress your spine and calm the nervous system with this beginner pose! Begin by placing both hands on your mat in front of you, palms down and slightly in front of your shoulders. With your knees directly below your hips. Exhaling, lift your knees off the ground, and point your hips and buttocks upwards, creating an inverted V-shape. Try pushing your thighs back and heels down, feeling the stretch, and keep your head between and in line with your upper arms, not dangling freely.
